I trust that this information may be of help to some:
Scientifically speaking
"Burn injury is accompanied by complex pathophysiological alterations that
exert a deleterious effect on various organ systems. The biological and
metabolic alterations include the degradation of adenosine triphosphate, a
significant reduction in polyunsaturated fatty acids in the red cell
membrane, and elevation of activity of serum enzymes. These changes have
been associated with formation of the lipid peroxidation product malon
dialdehyde (MDH) as a consequence of burn injury. There is experimental
evidence showing increased levels of lipid peroxide in rat serum after
thermal injury. This can result in the generation of the lipid peroxidation
products that are detected in burned skin, lung tissue, and serum.
Increased levels of lipid peroxide and enzymes have also been reported in
burn patients.”

Hooves/generally:
Please be aware that deep burns to the hoof are not always obvious immediately.
The outer hoofcapsule does provide insulation for the inner living structures, however, extensive heat over a period of time will cause corium damage.
Sole corium and wall lamellae may overheat (literally cook), and tissue will still break-down even if initial visible blisters to bulbs and skin are already healing.
Due to the conductivity of metal, shod horses are at greater risk, as the heat will remain longer and is more localized.
If internal damage has occurred, the help of a hoofcare specialist is required. Rehabilitation may take at least 8-9 months or more as failure of the suspension apparatus and severe abscessing may be some of the complications.
For burns to the skin and bulbs and coronet
please follow initial first aid procedures as recommended by your vet and discuss following alternative treatment methods with him/her to assist the healing process thereafter:
Herbal/Homeopathic
After cooling and cleaning:
Hypericum ointment & Calendula tincture as combination (Hypericum can be given internally as homeopathic remedy!)
Therapeutic grade pure lavender tincture
Rescue remedy (internally)

Honey
If you have open wounds on the skin, honey works well as a healing agent.
It will cause the burned area to heal more quickly, fights infections and
will promote healing without scarring.
The darker the honey the better.

rapid healing of wounds. The high viscosity, acidic pH, inhibine factor,
high osmolarity, and nutrient content of honey contribute to the inhibition
of bacterial growth and promote wound healing..We designed this
prospective randomized study in order to observe the effects of honey
clinically and to correlate with biochemical and bacteriological studies."

whys and methods of healing with honey, especially for burns.

Mentally
Besides rescue remedy, flower essences may be useful to deal with the after-effects:
Rock Rose (x-treme fear),
Gorse (hopelessness),
Sweet Chestnut (deep mental anguish),
Star of Bethlehem (which rescue remedy has in it, for shock)
Willow (too much introspective of what has happened to them)
Red chestnut, (for those horses who may be separated from their herd
make a combination & add to water trough
